Highlighter On Fleek

Lipsticks are without a doubt my favourite makeup item. I love buying them, I love collecting them and I love wearing them. However, there's a new favourite precious steadily on the rise for me, and that is a good highlighter. 

Up until a while ago, I thought I couldn't ever rock highlighters properly because of my oily skin. I'd see the stunning Jaclyn Hill – my highlighter queen! – rock a multitude of them, especially her own Champagne Pop (swoons!), and it looked simply stunning on her dry skin. Me, on the other hand, I've always held back in fear of looking like an absolute oil slick. Not any more, though! Now that my skin is more on the combination side, I was on the lookout for the perfect highlighter, and I narrowed it down to two: BECCA's Moonstone and Urban Decay's Afterglow Highlighter in Sin, which is the one I have to show you today! 

Batons são a minha perdição. Adoro comprá-los, adoro colecioná-los e adoro usá-los – não saio de casa sem um, facto! Porém, há um produto que me tem vindo a conquistar, e esse produto é o belo do iluminador. 

Até recentemente, fugia a sete pés de qualquer coisa que me desse mais brilho à cara. Pele oleosa, que fazer? A verdade é que via a Jaclyn Hill – a rainha do iluminador – a usar mil e um daqueles lindões, especialmente o Champagne Pop, criado por ela (morro só de olhar). Na pele seca dela, tudo fica de babar... E na minha oleosa? Pois, sempre tive medo de parecer uma frigideira com um ovo a estrelar por cima. No entanto, e aproveitando o facto da minha pele ter andado mais seca, decidi que estava na hora de apostar num bom iluminador. Escolhi dois: o Moonstone da BECCA e o Sin da Urban Decay, e é desse que vos vou falar hoje!

I spotted these when I walked past the Urban Decay counter a while ago, and all three colours sat there looking gorgeous and glowy. There's Aura, a light iridescent pink, Fireball, a peachy pink and Sin, a champagne gold. Keeping in mind the fact I have fair skin, I knew Fireball would be nothing more than a blush on me, and my obsession with champagne highlighters made Sin the obvious choice (even though I do want to get Aura at some point, hehe). I couldn't be happier with my choice! 

Já sabia que a Urban Decay ia lançar uma coleção maravilhosa de verão, mas estava mais virada para o BB cream 'One and Done' e para os bronzers. No entanto, foram os iluminadores que me deixaram a babar quando passei pelo balcão da UD. Temos o Aura, um rosa clarinho com brilho frio, o Fireball, um rosa pêssego e o Sin, um dourado champanhe. Considerando que tenho pele clara, sabia que o Fireball ia ficar um blush em mim, e a minha obsessão por iluminadores mais 'champanhe' fez-me optar pelo Sin (ainda que tenha ficado com o Aura debaixo de olho, hehe).

First of all, the packaging. Ladies and gents, this packaging (!) is to die for! I realised when I was photographing this that this is my first Urban Decay item, which is ridiculous considering I always have something of theirs on my wishlist, but I love the brand as a whole and their packaging is always on point. The duo chrome packaging, the magnetic closure, the little fishnet cut out detail that allows you to see what's actually inside the pan... I couldn't love it any more, it's so compact, sleek and perfect for travelling. 

Primeiro, a embalagem. Senhores, este packaging (!) está de morrer! Apercebi-me enquanto fotografava o iluminador que este é o primeiro produto que tenho da Urban Decay, o que é ridículo visto que tenho sempre um ou outro na minha wishlist. Adoro a marca, adoro os produtos e adoro o packaging, que para mim é sempre um must. Este degradé de cores na embalagem, o facto de fechar magneticamente, o pormenor com a rede que nos deixa ver o que está dentro... Não podia gostar mais! É prático, bonito, elegante e perfeito para viajar.

Now, the highlighter itself. You guys, if I say it's perfect, I won't be exaggerating. For me, highlighting equals a champagne golden glow, so I knew Sin was the one for me. Urban Decay claims that the Afterglow highlighters are “finely-milled to perfection for a lightweight (yet luxurious) result, with an ultra soft, creamy texture”, and I couldn't agree more. The formula is buttery soft, blends super easily and holy wow, is it intense! When I first dusted it across my cheekbone, I was like 'ohmygoshwhoisthisgoldengoddesslookingbackatme?!'! Yes, my eyes even widened a bit, it's that pigmented. It claims to last 8 hours, but for me it goes way beyond that! 

Agora, o iluminador em si. Minhas amigas, se vos disser que é perfeito, não estaria a exagerar. Para mim, um iluminador deve ser neutro, champanhe e bem brilhante e douradinho, por isso soube que o Sin era 'o tal'. A Urban Decay diz que os iluminadores Afterglow são feitos com uma fórmula “suave para um acabamento leve (mas luxuoso), com uma textura super suave e cremosa”, e eu não podia concordar mais. A fórmula é super cremosa, funde-se super bem com a pele e nossa, a cor é intensa! Quando espalhei na bochecha, a minha reação foi tipo 'ohmeudeusqueméestadivailuminada'! Sim, até fiquei boquiaberta dada a pigmentação fantástica. A UD diz também que é suposto durarem até oito horas, mas para mim duram muito mais do que isso!

Here you can see the GLOW in full force! (Excuse the snapchat pictures, they're the only ones who captured the glow in its full glory). Here I'm wearing nothing but sunscreen, blush and Sin and, as you can see, there's no overdoing with this: there are no chunky pieces of glitter, no disco ball effect, just a gorgeous glow that looks stunning in daylight. This is my first 'proper' highlighter and I am so obsessed with it, I'm so glad I managed to pick it up – it was the last one, as well! Woo-hoo! Aqui podem ver o GLOW no seu esplendor! (Desculpem as fotos do Snapchat, só o meu iPhone capturou o glow como deve ser). Aqui estou a usar só protetor solar, o meu blush e o Sin. Não há como abusar deles: não há pedaços de glitter a voar pelo ar, nem aquele efeito de bola de espelhos, apenas um glow lindo e discreto que fica maravilhoso contra a luz do sol. Este é o meu primeiro highlighter 'a sério' e não podia estar mais apaixonada! Ainda bem que consegui por as minhas patinhas nele – era o último na Sephora do El Corte Inglés!
