Pixi Glow Tonic: Is It Worth The Hype?

Há certos produtos que atingem aquele estatuto de holy grail na blogosfera e nunca mais o largam. Quando andava a pesquisar reviews do Glow Tonic da Pixi, só me apareciam reviews a dizer maravilhas sobre maravilhas, para além de ser um best seller da marca e estar quase sempre sold out. É claro que isto aguçou a minha curiosidade, afinal, um simples tónico com um efeito assim tão dramático na pele das pessoas? Posto isto, é claro que tive que experimentar...

There are certain products that have reached holy grail status on the blogosphere and they have kept it since. When I was reading up on the Pixi Glow Tonic, I could only find rave reviews on it, as well as it being a best seller and pratically sold out everywhere! It all felt a bit too good to be true; I mean, a simple toner which has this supposedly amazing effect on everyone's skin? You know I just had to try it for myself...

What It Is 

Este produto é oficialmente um toner, mas para mim é muito mais do que isso. Tem uma ação exfoliante, graças aos 5% de ácido glicólico que contém. Não se assustem com a palavra 'ácido', porque este é um ingrediente maravilhoso que remove as células mortas na pele e deixa transparecer uma pele mais limpa, radiante e até mais jovem. Para além do ácido glicólico, este tónico é enriquecido com Aloé Vera, o que significa que é super gentil e não agride a pele, como alguns exfoliantes. Inclui também Ginseng, para reafirmar e devolver o brilho à pele. É também ótimo para fazer desvanecer cicatrizes de acne e para acalmar aquelas borbulhas mais zangadas.

This product is officially marketed as a toner, but for me it is so much more than that! It acts as an exfoliant, due to the 5% Glycolic Acid that is in the tonic. Don't be alarmed, though! This is a good acid, which removes dead skin cells to reveal brighter, more radiant and more youthful skin underneath all that gunk, dirt and impurities. This is also formulated with Aloe Vera, which makes it the smoothest and most gentle toner I've ever used, and Ginseng, which tightens and brightens the skin. It's also great at dissipating those pesky scars and fighting ongoing breakouts... I mean, sign me up?!

How I Use It 

Uso um disco de algodão (os da Primark são os meus favoritos) e dispenso um pouco de produto. Depois, uso moções circulares para espalhar o produto no rosto, tendo em atenção as zonas mais problemáticas. Et voilá! Pode usar-se uma a duas vezes por dia, mas prefiro usá-lo à noite ou de manhã antes de ir trabalhar, para conferir luminosidade ao rosto. Ao início parece que 'queima' o rosto devido ao ácido glicólico, mas a sensação passa num instante e não é de todo incomodativa.

I disperse a bit of product onto a cotton pad (Primark does my favourite ones) and then rub it across my face using circular motions, paying special attention to my problem areas (chin, nose and so forth). And that's it! You can use one to two times per day, but I prefer to use it at nighttime before I go to bed or in the mornings before I head out to work. You do feel a slight burn/tingle upon first application because of the glycolic acid, but it vanishes quickly and doesn't bother me at all.

Is It Worth The Hype? 

SIM. SIM. SIM. Ao início estava desconfiada; afinal, gastar 20€ num tónico é de loucos, certo? Não quando os resultados são assim tão bons! Logo após a primeira utilização a pele fica macia, com uma textura muito melhor e mais iluminada, portanto cumpre tudo o que promete. Acho que é daqueles produtos game changer que vou voltar a comprar vezes sem conta! O único ponto negativo é talvez o cheiro, é forte e para mim cheira-me a perfume mais 'maduro', se é que me faço entender ahah. Mas de resto, o hype é 100% justificado e está mais do que aprovado!

YES. YES. YES! At first I was very sceptical; let's be honest, forking out £18 for a toner is a bit of madness territory, but this works so well I don't give a damn! Right upon first application the skin feels SO smooth, texture is improved and the skin looks brighter and glowing, so this does what it says on the tin. I think it's one of those game changer products that should be a staple in everyone's routine and I'm sure I'll repurchase this time and time again! The only drawback for me is the smell, it smells a bit like... Mature perfume, if you catch my drift, ahah. But overall this is brilliant and the hype is totally justified, I'm a Pixi convert!
