Depois da real desilusão com a Better Than Sex da Too Faced, estava mais do que cética no que toca a acreditar nas tretas que as marcas nos enfiam pela guela abaixo. Quer dizer, se toda a gente e o seu poodle ama a Better Than Sex, então porque é que se desfazia e esfarelava, escorrendo sem piedade pelos olhos abaixo no final do dia?
Se há uma promessa que a máscara cumpriu foi o volume. Mas isso não foi suficiente para voltar a comprar, porque não havia dia em que não chegasse a casa em modo panda. Portanto, a luta continou - usei-a até secar e depois marchei até à Sephora em busca de uma nova escovinha mágica. Tinha três em mente: da Benefit, a Roller Lash e a They're Real!, e a Velvet Noir do Marc Jacobs. Como a Velvet Noir não se vende em miniatura, decidi comprar a Roller Lash, a máscara que teve aquele hype todo há cerca de um ano.
After the disappointment that the Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced bestowed upon me, I was more than sceptical with brands bold claims in regards to the good ol' mascara. I mean, if everyone and their mum loves and swears by Better Than Sex, then why did it smudge, crumble (and all the words you don't want to hear associated with a 26€ mascara) on me?
One promise it DID deliver on, was volume. But that wasn't enough for me, not when the price to pay was coming home looking like a dejected panda every time. So, the search continued - I dutifully used it up and then trotted to Sephora in search for my next big mascara. I had three in mind: Benefit's Roller Lash, They're Real or Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir. Since Marc Jacobs doesn't offer a travel size to try (boo!), I decided to go for Roller Lash instead, a mascara that had garnered so much hype around a year ago.
Vamos já diretas ao assunto. É melhor do que a Better Than Sex? Para mim, sim! Não dá tanto volume nem deixa as pestanas com aquele aspeto gordinho que eu até gosto, mas deixa-as bem separadinhas, bonitas e, melhor de tudo, não esfarela nem transfere para todo o recinto dos meus olhos! A escova é bem diferente da Better Than Sex, é fina e sente-se mesmo que é plástico, enquanto a da Too Faced é bem gordinha e farfalhuda, precisamente para dar muito volume. Geralmente prefiro esse género de escovas, mas fiquei agradavelmente surpreendida com esta.
Se as curva? As minhas não, mas elas também são uma chatice porque são tesas e pequenitas. Preciso de passar bem o curvex antes de aplicar a máscara para que fiquem encaracoladinhas e lindonas, mas o bom desta máscara é que se pode aplicar duas ou três camadas e elas não ficam coladas ou pesadas, o que adoro.
Let's get straight into it: is it better than Better Than Sex? For me, yes! This doesn't give them nearly as much volume and thickness as Too Faced's offering, but it really does separate, elongate and make them look absolutely gorgeous and natural. And the best part? It doesn't crumble or smudge around my eyes! Major brownie points there. The brushes are obviously different, this one is tiny ad very plastic-y compared to the fat full brush of the Better Than Sex mascara, which is what gives you that wow volume. I personally still prefer those kind of brushes, but this one has surprised me in the best way!
Does it give them a curl? No, not to mine anyway, but they're really stumpy, straight and hard to work with as it is. I have to really get in there with my eyelash curlers to give them a nice curl prior and then let the mascara work its magic - and believe me, magic it performs. I also love that you can apply two or three layers without the lashes getting thick and gloopy, which I absolutely adore!
