2016 foi aquele ano em que naveguei por águas estranhas. Isto é, água onde nadam produtos de beleza de luxo. Antes disto costumava ficar-me só por produtos mais baratos da drugstore (e não há nada de mal nisso!) e quase que espumava pela boca só de pensar em gastar mais de 20€ num produto de beleza. Onde esses tempos já vão, minhas amigas... Levemente, assim como quem não quer a coisa, comecei a colecionar um arsenal modesto para os padrões do YouTube, mas farto para quem ainda só está a começar nestas lides. E, é claro, tinha que partilhar tudo convosco!
Há alguns produtos que tiveram que ficar de fora, porque tentei condensar isto da melhor maneira possível (e também porque me estavam a estragar o flatlay, lmao). Portanto, fica uma menção muito honrosa aos meus holy grail das sobrancelhas, o Goof Proof Brow Pencil e High Brow da Benefit, o blush Luminoso da Milani, o corretor Naked Skin da Urban Decay e o batom Velvet Teddy da MAC, todos muito bem amados por mim. 2016 was the year that marked my first dive into high end beauty. Before I used to stick to drugstore stuff (which is fine!) and scoff at the thought of buying any sort of beauty product over 20€. Slowly but surely, however, I've started to build my beauty arsenal and I've found some amazing high end products that I just had to share with you in this 2016 beauty roundup. Of course I have added some drugstore finds, too, and I can't wait to show you my 2016 favourites!
There were some products I truly loved this year, but I tried to narrow it down to the best of the best (and also because I didn't want a lot of clutter on my flatlay, lmao). Not pictured here are my brow holy grails, the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil and the High Brow, Milani Luminoso blush, Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer and MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick, which have also been some of my 2016 faves. Now enough babbling, let's get on with the post!
MOISTURISER
Tive muitos problemas com esta minha pele durante este ano, uma vez que passou de oleosa a desidratada e forçou-me a lidar com alguns problemas hormonais por causa da pílula (my bad). No entanto, encontrei alguns produtos de cuidado de pele maravilhosos, mas tinha mesmo que mencionar este hidratante Cien Aqua do Lidl. Sim, ouviram bem, do Lidl! E o melhor? Custou menos de 3€. É verdade, é possível, babem-se lá à vontade. Deixa a pele brilhante, macia, suuuuper cheirosa e é o meu fiel companheiro de todas as manhãs.
I've had a bit of a shitty time with my skin this year, as it's gone from being oily to dehydrated in a matter of months plus forcing me to deal with hormonal breakouts due to birth control (my bad). I've found a couple of really good skincare products this year, however, but my favourite discovery has to be this Cien Aqua Moisturiser. Yes, you can get this at your local Lidl supermarket for less than 3€ (!) and it makes my skin look glowy, supple and oh so healthy, I can't get enough of this!
HAIR
Tal como a pele, o cabelo também foi um sacaninha este ano. Passou de ser super saudável e brilhante a cair por todos os lados e a virar palha, um horror. Tive, portanto, de renovar todo o meu arsenal de cuidados de cabelo e foi à custa disso que descobri este champô/oitava maravilha do Universo, o Champô Neutro D'Aveia. Demorou só uma semana a dizer adeus de vez ao couro cabeludo irritado e escamado, deixando o cabelo macio, brilhante e tão cheiroso. Magia!
Much like my skin, my hair's given me a horrible time this year. It went from being healthy and shiny to fried and damaged, so I've had to completely revamp my stash and find new products to nourish it back to health. My favourite product to achieve just that has been the D'Aveia neutral shampoo – it put a stop to my scalp itchiness and flakiness, whilst making my hair look super shiny and lush.
FOUNDATION
Ora, bases. Aquela parte favorita de quase todas as meninas... Not me, though. Aliás, só tenho mesmo duas bases na minha coleção, e estão aqui hoje só para vocês!
Primeiro, a adorada Perfection Lumière Velvet da Chanel. Todas as bases da Chanel são amor puro, vamos lá admitir, mas esta ainda mais. Está quase no seu leito de morte, portanto está na hora de voltar a fazer a carteira chorar – é raríssimo voltar a comprar bases, digo-vos já, mas esta merece. É super leve, deixa a pele respirar mas dá-lhe um aspeto flawless e super saudável. Vale todos os cêntimos (que não são poucos).
Por fim, um amor recente: a Superbalanced Silk da Clinique. Adoro tanto esta base que até já passei o bichinho à mãe e também ela já tem e adora! Tem muito mais cobertura do que a da Chanel, mas é na mesma leve e deixa um aspeto de seda pura na pele. Amor, amor, amor!
I have to admit, I'm definitely NOT a foundation junkie. In fact, I only have two foundations in my stash and, guess what, they're both featured here!
First up, my beloved Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet, my very first high end foundation and possibly the one I love the most. I'm almost out of this foundation and I'm going to repurchase – huge deal for me – because it's got light coverage, it's so lightweight and makes your skin look absolutely flawless! I just cannot rave about this foundation enough.
Then, a new favourite: Clinique Superbalanced Silk. I love and rave about this foundation so much I even got my mum jumping on the bandwagon with me! This has a lot more coverage than my Chanel one, but it's still super lightweight while feeling AND looking like actual silk on your skin. Just stunning!
BLUSH
Uma comprinha bem recente, mas que já está nos favoritos de toda a vida. Falo, é claro, dos Air Blush Soft Glow da Marc Jacobs, só os blushes mais lindões que tenho na coleção! Este bebé é na cor Flesh & Fantasy, esgotadíssima durante imenso tempo na Sephora. Quando estava a fazer compras de Natal avistei-o no balcão Marc Jacobs e quase me deu um pequeno baque no coração. Estava destinado, não? É um nude lindíssimo e que é ainda mais evidente na minha pele clara.
A new purchase, but it's already reached top favourite status. I'm talking about the Marc Jacobs Air Blush Soft Glow blushes, specifically the shade Flesh & Fantasy. This baby was out of stock for a while and I grabbed it the minute I saw it waiting for me at Sephora! It's the most gorgeous nude blush that actually warms up the face in the process. Obsessed!
HIGHLIGHTER
Apaixonei-me por dois iluminadores este ano. Um foi o Sin da Urban Decay, e o outro... Oh pá, já sabem qual é – Champagne Pop, que mais? Comprei o BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Split na combinação Champagne Pop/Flowerchild e foi amor na hora. O blush é lindo, mas o iluminador é mesmo qualquer coisa, intenso, único... Definitivamente o favorito dos favoritos do ano.
I've had two highlighters steal my heart this year. One was Sin by Urban Decay, but the other one... Oh man. I know you know which one I'm referring to – Champagne Pop, what else? I got the BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Split in the Champagne Pop/Flowerchild duo and I'm honestly obsessed. The blush is beautiful, but the highlighter is so beautiful, intense and unique... Definitely my favourite of the year by a landslide.
LIPSTICK
Pois bem, a parte mais difícil. Já todos sabemos que sou uma acumuladora compulsiva de batons (e quase todos dentro da mesma cor), portanto esta decisão foi tudo menos fácil. No entanto, acho que soube instintivamente qual era o favorito dos favoritos e é claro que é o Very Victoria da Charlotte Tilbury. Sim, o batom dos meus sonhos! Se pudesse idealizar um batom meu, era este. A MELHOR fórmula mate do mercado – é que nem tentem – e o castanho rosado nude perfeito. Preciso de mais!
Oh, the dreaded part. I'm a true lipstick hoarder, it's my favourite beauty product to splurge on so narrowing this down wasn't easy. Ultimately I knew which one to pick and I'm sure it won't come as a shock to most of you... Of course, Very Victoria by Charlotte Tilbury. Yes, the lipstick of my dreams! The BEST matte formula on the market at the moment – don't fight me on this – and the brown nude pink lipstick you all need. I for one need more!
PERFUME
Decidi não incluir o óbvio (Flowerbomb do Viktor & Rolf, o favorito de sempre) e optei por incluir o meu segundo perfume favorito da vida: a colónia Mimosa & Cardamom da Jo Malone. Adoro a estética, a ideia, a marca Jo Malone e é sempre algo especial comprar uma colónia da marca. Os aromas são todos únicos e irrepetíveis e este ficou-me na cabeça de tal forma que tive de correr até ao corner do ECI e comprá-lo!
I've decided to skip the obvious (Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf, my all time favourite) and go for my second all time favourite scent, Mimosa & Cardamom cologne by Jo Malone. This was such a delightful surprise, I love the idea behind all Jo Malone colognes, they're oh so special! I'm almost out of this one so a repurchase will be in the cards soon...
